Rochester Lyric Opera is a professional opera company. Their repertoire includes classic opera and operetta in both traditional and non-traditional settings, new works by regional composers, and amateur and educational performances by local youths and adults.
The company was founded in 2012. In 2015 they opened their venue and headquarters in the former First Church of Christ, Scientist building in the East Avenue Historic District. It is now called the Lyric Theatre and serves as a venue for both the Rochester Lyric Opera and other performance arts groups and events.
