Route 5 is a New York State Highway that largely runs parallel to the Thruway in the Rochester area.
Western Segment
New York State Hwy 5 begins in Ripley at the PA/NY border and runs east through downtown Buffalo. A number of streets, all marked as Route 5(!), eventually converge into Main St, which proceeds through Buffalo to Williamsville, Clarence, Pembroke, and Batavia where it intersects Route 33, Route 63, and Route 98.
