My favorite Rochester Thai restaurant is Sak's. + + I've eaten a LOT of Thai food in my life and I definitely would say that Sak's is doing it right. The past reviews compared this to Asian Fusion, which would not be accurate since they only serve Thai food (no Japanese, Chinese or fusion at my visit). The atmosphere is a bit classier and a lot more relaxing than other restaurants. The service was friendly, polite and prompt. + The pad thai is spot-on (not orange, overly sweet or bland like other restaurants in the area). I also really enjoy the pad prik khing - plenty of perfectly crisp veggies, fresh thai lime leaves and roasted chili sauce. Both those dishes are big portions at ~$9 for the tofu option. The papaya salad is delightfully flavorful. Heat scale goes from 1-5 and 3 was plenty of lip-tingling bird chilies for me (I usually like things pretty spicy). + Definitely worth the trip. And I am not a big fan of coconut ice-cream, but their coconut ice-cream is just superlative. The owners are a husband and wife team - he's the head chef and she's a server.
