South Goodman Street is a long route that, traveling north, takes you through the city neighborhoods of Upper Mount Hope, Highland Park, Pearl-Meigs-Monroe, Monroe Village, the Park Avenue area, and the East Avenue Historic District. Important streets it crosses include Highland Avenue, South Clinton Avenue, Monroe Avenue, Pearl Street, Park Avenue, and East Avenue.
South Goodman is primarily residential but has commercial spaces at many intersections.
After the intersection with East Avenue it becomes North Goodman Street, which continues northward into Irondequoit.
