History

The Village of Webster celebrated its centennial in 2005, but looks back in history to 1812 when James Spear built the first permanent frame building to house the Stage Coach Inn. Known in earlier times as North Penfield, it got its new name from [wikipedia]Daniel Webster. In 1900 the village connected to Rochester with opening of the Rochester Sodus Bay Trolley and in 1905 the Village separated from the Town of Webster.
