2011-10-31 13:16:56   what happened to Gary O., host of Fridays 6 - 9 PM? He was the soul and spirit of the station? —daDaDA

2013-04-02—
Gary O passed away not too long ago. He was off the air and recovering from cancer, but made a re-appearance hosting his show for at least a period in late 2011, or 2012. In this listener's opinion, he was one of the best jazz dj's in the nation, both in on-air style and love, knowledge, and appreciation of the music he shared. His passing is a great loss. Thank you for providing the memorable beginning to so many weekends!

A tribute to Gary O. is at the WGMC site, including a few photos of Gary in the studio. The page says:
"On Thursday November 8, 2012, Jazz90.1 paid tribute to our friend, and Friday evening host for over 23 years, Gary O. We hope you enjoy the program."
