Waterloo is a village just beyond the eastern reaches of what could reasonably be considered "metro Rochester." As such, despite its 1966 designation as the Birthplace of Memorial Day, most Rochesterians know it only as Thruway exit 42, home of the Waterloo Premium Outlets, a "day trip" shopping destination.
