The Webster Community Partnership, WCP, is an unconventional partnership between the Webster community, local government, and the Webster Public Schools.
"The Webster Community Program, through a unique spirit of cooperation between the Webster Aquatic Center, school and community, is dedicated to promoting health and wellness and providing opportunities for instruction, recreation and competitive programs at well-run facilities.
Known primarily as the administrator of its two premier recreational sites, the Webster Aquatic Center and the Webster Field House, the Webster Community Program actually has a much broader reach and greater implications on the community.
Providing a conduit for the partnership of school and community, allows for management and coordination of shared resources for the benefit of all. The Webster Community Program offers recreational sites, provides instructional and certification programs, and manages special events.
The goal of Webster Community Progrmaing is to offer opportunities to the community, build a national presence through prestigious events, and develop partnerships with businesses which will enhance the experience of visitors, while also boosting the local economy.
The WCP used to be sponsored in part by a program with City Brew Coffee (closed as of April 2010), which allowed customers to use their Universal Rewards Coffee Card and donate 5% to the community charity of their choice.
The WCP's achievements include Webster receiving the #1 Sportstown of the Year award in 2004 from Sports Illustrated magazine (see reference below).
