GrubHub provides an online menu I could order from and sends the order to the restaurant; apparently, there was an issue with the accuracy of the GrubHub menu, my order only contained about half of what I ordered. + + I ordered a three person dinner which was supposed to come with two quarts of entrees, among a number of other things, but the entrees and a few of the other extras were not received, but I did receive the pork-fried rice and vegetable lo mein. I called the restaurant about the problem and the woman I spoke to, at first took the position that I incorrectly placed the order, additionally, she claimed that the "B3" that I ordered was $27.95 and not the $21.95 and so they decided to not put in the entrees or some of the other extras, to correct, what they perceived as my errors in placing the order. + + I appears obvious to me that the menu on GrubHub was not accurate or up to date (GrubHub claims that their agreement with restaurants, requires that the restaurant contact them with up changes to menu or pricing). My basic problem with this interaction is, if I am the restaurant and I feel that there is a problem with an online order I have received, I am not at liberty to change the order how I want, in order to correct for the perceived error but I must contact the customer to alert them that there is a problem. In discussion with the woman at the restaurant, she offered to "fix" the problem by allowing 15% off my next order, but I'm unsure that I trust a business that fails to keep accurate menus online, arbitrarily changes orders they feel are in error, and then proceeds to tell the customer, that the customer placed an order incorrectly on a web-format ordering process that the restaurant is ultimately responsible for (in their agreement with GrubHub), with a second order. Trust is important in business, and my interaction with Yummy Garden, failed to meet my desires for trust, such that I am not comfortable with placing a second order at Yummy Garden. + + On a side note, the food that I did receive was tasty and well made; so it's a shame that a local business that makes good food, and is technologically adept enough to have the capacity for online orders, would fail (for me) in the department of customer service and customer satisfaction... some-where in all that, I imagine that there is an owner, that knows how to hire good cook staff, and how to develop good technology support, but who has perhaps entrusted management to a lack-luster manager... which can happen in family restaurants, when family-ties are preserved at the expense of the well-being of the business. + + My interactions with GrubHub was much more positive, they applied the 15% offer of the restaurant, retroactively on my order, which means, I am not obligated to make a second order in order to recoup my losses from the initial interaction, and they offered me $5 toward any other order I might place with them. Since I really don't like the food-products of chain/franchise restaurants, it looks like I'm going to be ordering pizza from 2 Ton Tony's pizzeria and I'll be avoiding Yummy Garden delivery, but I don't think I'd be opposed to going to Yummy Garden as a sit-down restaurant... as I said, the food that got delivered was above-average in taste and quality. + + I wish Yummy Garden the best of luck in business.
