- Hi all. I'm here by accident really, after having first sought information on the incident at Mark's Texas Hots the other night - talk about senseless and tragic. While perusing the Web, I came upon information about Mark's (although not necessarily about the shooting), that was tied to, evidently, a comment made on Rachel Blumenthal's page about the restaurant. So, here I am curious about this site and exploring what its all about. - - On this page, I'd like to use the opportunity to tell those who might be interested, a few things about me. To start, I am thirty-nine and a native Rochestarian. I was raised in Penfield in a middle-class environment, cutting grass and raking leaves. I'm a graduate of Monroe Community College and am anticipating enrollment soon at SUNY Empire State College to finish what will be my last year of undergraduate study. I'm single and haven't ever been married. - - My relationship with Rochester is a love/not so love one. I'm not a Winter person, so for six months of the year I'm waiting for May. In the "Summer" months, I love to be around the water, of which there is plenty around. I really appreciate the proximity of Rochester to larger cities such as Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and of course, NYC. Within a reasonable drive time you can experience a significant change of scenery and be stimulated culturally, astetically, culinarily, etc. that's not to say you can't achieve those things around Rochester - its just a much smaller dosage. - - I enjoy the Little Theatre immensly and have taken in many films there. For me, CanalTown Roasters and Spot Coffee are ideal environments to leisurely enjoy a rich double expresso and have a relaxed conversation with friends. As a resident of the East Ave. and Culver Rd. area, I enjoy picturesque scenery while walking along hedge-lined sidewalks and charming old homes, where only the occasional dog will say hello in a "ruff" sort of way - before being reminded to maintain politeness by silent and invisible protons and nuetrons. When I really think about it, Rochester does offer so much for all people; festivals, the arts, education, sports, recreation, food, entertainment. - - I've uploaded some photos that describe who I am, or have been, at particular moments in time. I can't really speak for him, but it was a great trip for me, although I didn't come back feeling "changed" as many people seem to feel. I had a good time but don't feel the need to pack up and make aliyah or anything. To answer your question, I do lean on the side of supporting Israel, but I don't actively do anything to support it. The main thing that gives me a feeling of connection is that I have friends and family who have either made aliyah or are spending extended amounts of time there.
