The Red Barn is an upscale clothing store and haberdashery for the professional male. They carry several high-end clothing lines that are not available anywhere else in Rochester.

A brief sample of brands:

In addition to professional clothing, they carry casual attire for the professional male like polos and chinos.

Not to be confused with the [WWW]Red Barn for Interactive Adventures at RIT.

2007-02-14 14:53:07   I can't afford most of the things they carry, but I like to look around, dream, and occasionally buy cheap things like pocket squares. If you appreciate fine clothing, this store is as good as it gets in Rochester. Hands down. If you have the means, I highly recommend it. —EastSideStephen

2007-06-11 22:52:08   This store is an embarrassment. I paid $600 for two custom-made shirts which did not fit me (the arms had been mis-measured by an inch, huge pouching in the back, etc.). This store is geared towards older, overweight men who need oversized shirts that will fit them; it is not a real custom shop like you would find in NYC or London, where regular men of means normally go to have their clothes made. You would be better off buying a shirt from Banana Republic and taking it to a local tailor for alterations. —JosephMark

2007-06-11 23:31:24   I bought a couple shirts from them and had no problem at all. Sorry you had a poor experience Joseph. —PeteB

2008-03-21 15:29:08   Id like to buy something from the Red Barn, but they dont carry anything for the under 40 age set. The owner is nice and Id like to fund local people, but the store just doesnt cater to me.

They no longer carry Hugo Boss (the website says they do) and Lacoste and Cole Haan are not upscale, so there is really nothing that appeals to young people. (You can also get Lacoste at Macys and Cole Haan at Marshalls at a lower price point.)

While I would love a Canali suit, I can just go to the Hickey Freeman store and buy an suit of equal quality for half the price, so why wouldnt I?

How about bringing in some truly upscale labels that are diff to Rochester? —MrRochester

2009-10-16 14:50:09   I agree wholeheartedly with MrRochester's post. There doesn't seem to be a market for modern designer menswear in Rochester. If you're looking for a well-cut suit with modern lines, make the trip to the Hugo Boss store in Buffalo, or mail order from Brooks Brothers (Fitzgerald cuts) and then have a local tailor make alterations. At Red Barn you'll only find the same baggy, fat suits old men have been wearing for years—there's a reason why businessmen in Rochester look so out of date. —JosephMark
