FLXmusic is a site where users can listen to music from bands that have an event scheduled in the Finger Lakes and see a list of music events that can be sort and filtered by date range, location, and genre. The site was created by Jason Bunnell and two Rochester Institute of Technology Software Engineering students while part of RIT's Venture Creations.

The primary goal of the project was to focus on local bands and making tools to help them with promotion and finding a local audience. Some of these tools include:

• Top Local Artists - this section on the homepage features local artists with the most song likes and listens during the past month.
  

• Event Promotion - the Events page lists music events in the Finger Lakes region. Some of those events are large ticketed events, but local bands can add their own shows and gigs to the list free of charge.
  

• Music Streaming - music is only streamed if the band has an upcoming event in the Finger Lakes. The ranking algorithm ensures the band has an upcoming event and factors in the song listen count and song like count.
  

• Band Profile - bands have a profile that shows what songs they have on the platform, their upcoming events, images, genre, and a description. Bands can edit all the content on their profile.
