Dan's Crafts and Things is a 12,000 square foot retail hobby, crafts, and toy store in Irondequoit that is a hobbyist and crafter's paradise, not to mention their specialty toys. It is literally packed floor-to-ceiling with radio-controlled toys and supplies, model railroad equipment, model rockets, plastic models, and all of the tools required to create and assemble these and many other items. Dan's also has coin collecting supplies, jewelry-making materials, and a large selection of wedding supplies.

Dan's staff knows their hobbies, and they are able to provide friendly and well-informed advice.

2008-03-06 09:23:53   Fantastic place to go for all sorts of hobby and craft supplies.

The staff is especially knowledgeable about radio-control, rockets, and models. I've spent quite a bit of time chatting with them, and it's nice to go someplace where the people are actually using the products they sell.

I'd have to disagree with the previous comment; Pretty much the entire back half of the store, probably a couple thousand square feet, is entirely craft products.

Yes, it's kind of dark inside and not spotless. On the other hand, I'll take smart, knowledgeable employees who are genuinely friendly over a brightly-lit store whose people don't know much more than how to run a cash register, any day. —RichMulvey
