The Pursuit of Happiness?

Often students find their way into college with the aspiration of simply utilizing the next four or so years of a young life to acquire a degree. Is this degree being used to find personal happiness or to obtain monetary wealth? Unfortunately, for many the time of heightened self-awareness and exploration is wasted on popularity, money, partying and the decision to be simply to content with money instead of compassion or passion for life. Why not take the time out of one’s life to help someone else feel better about his or her life?

Seek not the pursuit of happiness: the attainment of money, power, and prestige. Instead be an individual that desires the cultivation of joy. Yet, the question may be what way leads to a better sense of optimism and general well-being. Well, the answer to this is simple. Volunteer! Tutor someone, plant a garden, or fund raise for a cause! Be the one that makes sure children start the year with notebooks, clothes, and the optimum opportunity to excel in school. You may be the reason they may go to an Ivy League school such as Yale, Harvard or even the University of Rochester! Do something other than focusing on oneself, and change the world!

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
