User pages, which look like Users/yoursitelogin, are:
-
Your place to post information about yourself.
-
The correct place for personal discussions that occur on the wiki.
-
Totally editable by that contributor; comments left on that page may be deleted at whim by that contributor. Deleting the entire page is allowed.
User pages are not:
-
The place for school projects or random non-Rochester related info.
Wiki contributors should not:
-
Edit or delete other people's Users page (except to add or modify their own comment).
-
Modify comments on User pages.
-
Use Users pages for encyclopedic information. For example, /Users/SusanBAnthony would be the personal page of Susan B. Anthony and the only person editing that page should be Susan B. Anthony, except to edit comments that they themselves previously posted or to add new comments. However, Susan_B._Anthony is the encyclopedic page for this famous person and non-personal, fact-oriented content should be posted there. This also means that while a famous person's Users page can be deleted, we will usually end up keeping the encyclopedic page after a discussion.
-
Edit their own encyclopedic pages if they are the public figure in question.
