Edmund Lyon was an inventor, humanitarian, philanthropist, and manufacturer. Edmund Lyon Park and Edmund Lyon Crescent are named in his honor.
He was also a volunteer teacher at the Western New York Institute for Deaf-Mutes (later renamed the Rochester School for the Deaf).
