Ove Overmyer Biography

Ove Overmyer relocated to Rochester, N.Y. in 1993 from New York City and Westhampton Beach, N.Y. He has also lived in Dennisport, Massachusetts. Mr. Overmyer was formally educated at SUNY Cortland, and did graduate work at Hunter College in New York City. Mr. Overmyer is currently enrolled at the [ithaca]Cornell_University School of Industrial and Labor Relations studying the dynamics of labor, government and politics. Ove is a dedicated activist who fights for social and political justice.

Mr. Overmyer has been employed by the City of Rochester at the Central Library of Rochester and Monroe County since 1997. He has held several titles since then, presently employed as a reference library assistant in the Arts, Music and Recreation Division. He has also served as the Assistant to the Director of Friends of the Rochester Public Library. Additionally, Ove is a part-time law library clerk at the NYS Appellate Law Library, 4th Department, in Rochester, N.Y. Ove is a two time recipient of the City of Rochester Superstars of Service Award. Ove received a special merit award in 2006 and the Vinnie Cup Award in 2008 from the Gay Alliance of the Genesee Valley for volunteering efforts and for his outstanding commitment to the community.

Ove Overmyer is also a writer, reporter, and photographer for The Empty Closet Newspaper. Ove is the political news reporter and the author of the monthly column called “Conundrums.” You can find additional articles and commentaries online and in print periodicals such as The Village Voice Literary Supplement, The Advocate, and Knowledge.com.
