2008-02-08 03:20:13   According to MapWorks, the dominant supplier of maps for the area, including the one in the Frontier phone directory, the plaza is called Brighton Plaza at Lac de Ville. It hasn't been Loehmann's Plaza for maybe 10 years now. —JohnLam

2008-02-08 13:04:04   To me, the "dominant" name is whatever the big blue sign says on South Clinton. I remember when it said "Loehmann's Plaza" but it could say "Tops" now ... I definitely don't think it includes "Brighton" at all, though. If I drive by I'll stop and snap a picture unless somebody beats me to it. —JasonOlshefsky

2008-02-10 03:21:51   If we called places by their “dominant” name, we'd have confusion. Many plazas across the city would then be called Tops Plaza or whatever their anchor store. They hardly call attention to their legal or directory names, which serve no advertising purpose. Note this is not like naming rights, for stadiums and whatnot.

The last time i saw the big blue sign at night, which may be five months ago now, it was broken. I think it displayed the street number “1900” top and dominant. Should we then call it 1900 South Clinton Ave? —JohnLam

2008-02-11 01:08:29   I didn't realize the name had changed from Loehmann's Plaza! That makes me sad, because this was always the hardest to spell location in Rochester. —AdamDurand
