ROCfish was the seafood restaurant previously known as the Crab Shack. Catering and outdoor seating was available.
The name change occurred in September 2015 and was due to the Crab Shack's association with Joe's Crab Shack, a national chain. Owners Mike and Mark Kimble wanted a name that reflected that they are a local business. Recently added a large Sunday brunch buffet.
They closed in August 2016, leaving a message on Facebook that said, in part:
But the restaurant business is a tough one. Unfortunately, as much as we love this business it is, ultimately, a business. And a business needs to make money to survive. We have struggled mightily against rising food and liquor costs. Then, at the beginning of this year New York State passed legislation that created a huge cost burden for small restaurant owners. That hurt us. Then construction ensued directly outside our doors, and people started to avoid our area. But the biggest thing to bring us to our knees was trying to pay a lease that was far too high given the location and our sales volume. Out of town investors with no interest in a local business were unable or unwilling to work with us as we struggled, so we lost our lease.
