Greece - Braddock Bay Park Reservations |
Braddock Bay Park (formerly Braddock Bay State Park) was a NY State Park located just west of Rochester on the Lake Ontario shoreline that included five bodies of water: Buck Pond, Long Pond, Cranberry Pond, Braddock Bay and Rose Marsh.
The NY State Office of Parks and Recreation handed over the park to the NY Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) in 1982. The property is still owned by the state as the Braddock Bay Fish and Wildlife Management Area (BBWMA).
Parts of the WMA property are leased to the Town of Greece which operates the current Braddock Bay Park and certain of the WMA resources.
In late winter, the woods around Rose Marsh, also known as Owl Woods, becomes a frequent stop-over point for migrating owls. "Owl-prowls" become a popular activity this time of year as bird-watchers walk the trails in hopes of catching a roosting Northern Saw-whet or Great Horned Owl in the pine trees.
