2012-06-11 15:28:10   I went there yesterday after hearing an ad stating they serve Italian Beef (a Chicago delicacy). As a Chicago-area native, I've been searching for a way to get my Italian Beef fix ever since I moved here. Sadly, what I was served was not an Italian Beef sandwich. While the bread was not bad, and held up to the au jus, the beef was two to three times too thick and completely unseasoned. The au jus was also lacking the familiar herb and spice mix I was craving. Giardiniera and cheese are standard on the sandwich; I got mine without these, so I can't comment on them. It wasn't bad, and decently sized, but it can't rightly be called an Italian Beef. I also got a chocolate malted milkshake, which was delicious, and a chocolate chunk cookie, which was pretty good. The overall price was reasonable. Soreno's had a closer approximation, with better seasoning, but the bread was off, and the meat was again too thick as well as not properly fluffed, plus they closed down. So, unfortunately, I will have to continue my search elsewhere and get the occasional fix when visiting family near Chicago. —ChristopherHenry
