Door 7 was an itinerant and collaborative gallery featuring photography, motion picture, glass scupture, live music, and multi-media. After new owners purchase a property and before they let the space, in return for rebuilding the interior, Door 7 installs for several weeks before moving to yet another space.

2007-05-17 23:35:05 Door 7 was started by then RIT student John Yost as a project for a class. It success caused a rebirth of the gallery after his graduation with his help coordinating from NYC.
The gallery featured mostly RIT student's work but also included local artists who were interested and willing to help renovate.
The gallery threw many shows, the first (that I was involved with and have some knowledge of) was on Canal St. The second location was on South Ave(the old Hunts Hardware and currently Common Grounds (?) Coffee Shop. The third location was 299 Gregory St behind the Garman House. And the fourth was at 700 S. Clinton (now a scooter dealership).
The gallery has had many bands perform during openings including but not limited to The Mathematicans, Screaming Cyn Cyn and the Pons, Greorgy Paul, The Fashionistas, Mynah, Que Pasa, Gak Attack and Autum in Halifax.
My current understanding is that the group is dead. Some of the best work I’ve seen in Rochester.
2007-10-15 17:01:12 I've often thought that this would be a good way to have a gallery without having a gallery... Too bad that they are no longer active - Maybe we should start it up again? Any takers? —GarthFreeman
