Freecycle/Rochester is a mailing list where people post about things they want to give away.
It's like the Craigslist 'free' section.
It has been on The Freecycle Network platform since Nov 04, 2010.
Instructions on how to join are on the main Description page (see link above).
Freecycle is a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (and getting) stuff for free in their own towns and thus keeping good stuff out of landfills.
Membership is free, and everything posted must be FREE, legal and appropriate for all ages. To view the items being given away or sought in the Greater Rochester, NY (U.S.A.) area, you must be a member of the local group.
We look forward to your visit!

2005-06-25 06:14:43 I find a lot of the rules to be draconian as well. The whole notion of it being moderated doesn't seem to help it be useful or structured, it just makes for ornery moderators who have to comb through thousands of messages a day. —JasonOlshefsky

2005-07-13 09:57:10 i use freecycle ocassionally... it could definitely be implemented better, perhaps even adding a similar section here on the wiki? —AnthonyRudgick
2005-07-15 13:54:07 How would a wiki freecycle be better than Craigslist? —TobinFricke
2006-05-09 10:51:07 A wiki Freecycle would probably suck, actually, unless old items would automatically expire, making it essentially an equivalent substitute for a subset of what Craigslist offers. —JasonOlshefsky
2006-05-09 15:48:41 Thank you Jason for helping re-word this page. It sounds much more complete than my previous edit. —AndrewSerrano
2007-07-05 10:34:12 Actually the comment above about every message being approved by moderator is false, new members are moderated, and people that cause issues by being greedy ,. or breaking the rules are returned to moderation. The majority of Freecycles 5300 people are not moderated. With approx 1000 messages a week, the moderator wouldnt have a life if everyone was moderated. How do i know this? 2007-07-06 10:05:26 2x I have had no shows to take what is offered, other than that, I have had good luck with rochester freecycling. —MrPhil
2008-11-03 15:20:02 Every post on RochesterNY_Freecycle is not moderated! New members are moderated and people who just can't get it of how to post correct so we can keep a orderly site for our members. The site has changed in the past year so try it! Hil Co Owner RochesterNY_Freecycle —clouse201
