Located in North Chili and now Southtown Plaza, almost on the corner of routes 259 and 33, Jitters Cafe (Aka Jitters) is a local coffee shop. They roast their own coffee in house, and there have been times the smell of roasting coffee has filled the place. They have over 30 coffee flavors, and Cafe Caramel is WilliamBorrelli's usual. Typically when one stops in, they have House, House Decaf, and 2 other roasts brewed and ready to go. Their House roast is closer to a mild roast, and one of the other roasts is always a darker/heavier roast. And they usually have a flavored roast coffee brewed as well.

Jitters also has over 50 milkshake flavors, and 30 flavored lattes. For those that don't care for coffee, or tea, or chi, or latte, they also have sodas, and just water.

They also serve wraps such as BBQ Chicken, Turkey BLT, Italian, Salsalito, Egg Salad, just to name a few. The bread options are wrap, croissant, pita, all grain bread, wheat, and ciabata. There is also a small selection of muffins, bagels, cake, pie, and cookies. There is also a Soup du jour.

The Southtown Plaza location now features a proper bar with wine, liquor and bottled beer. One of the two TV's in the place is back there, along with a pool table, ATM and dart board.

2007-02-17 17:08:56   The Southtown location will be closed Sunday 2/18/07 - Monday 2/19/07 while they move to a larger space in the same plaza. —DaveMahon

2007-04-02 16:41:14   The new larger location is a big improvement. Try the Ragin Cajun sandwich, it's very tasty. —NathanHenderson

2008-04-26 15:44:19   Went to the Southtown Plaza location. Interesting mix of coffee house, bar and cafe. One improvement to be made is when your order is ready they should let you know by number or by name of the customer. When they are busy and shout the sandwich name or coffee order others with a similar order who ordered after you can walk away with your order. This happened today. —ScottHendler

2008-05-11 20:33:45   As a former JoAnn's employee, I couldn't have asked for a better place just a short walk away to get out of the store for a dinner break or grab a quick drink and/or snack when I'm in the shopping center. The wide variety of drinks offered are made to order which I very much appreciate since I don't tolerate caffeine very well. The Italian sodas are one of my favorites! The sandwiches, wraps and soup are awesome some favorites include: salsalito wrap (turkey, spicy mayo, pepper-jack, lettuce), chicken salad (with cranberries and walnuts on a croissant), ragin cajun, bayou bomber, broccoli cheese soup, and on and on and on... The more experienced, original staff are always friendly and efficient, the newer employees are a little flaky at busy times. They do offer a 10% discount for Southtown employees and college students with ID. —StephanieTodd

2008-10-16 19:04:17   I had lunch at the North Chili location today. On my way in I noticed a sign that said they were hiring for their new location in Gates. Anyone have more details about this new location? —GirlRoc

2008-10-24 10:32:13   The Southtown location has awesome quesadillas and milkshakes. Highly recommended. —AlexanderGartley

2008-11-05 19:58:08   this is a nice coffee shop, but it's kind-of lame to copy other restaurant's ideas. (beer tubes) —Velma

2008-12-10 12:44:34   HORRIBLE SERVICE @ SOUTHTOWN. The atmosphere is schizophrenic (coffee! pizza! bar! sandwiches! shiny things!) and the food is greasy. —BatGuano

2009-01-17 00:53:34   The owners of this cafe are the most unprofessional I have ever seen in any retail business. Not only do they throw out fairly large quantities of reusable materials such as cardboard, glass, plastic, and paper—yes, they recycle NOTHING—but they also let their employees swear loudly every other minute, thinking that none of the customers can hear. And even the owners shout out ridiculous, pejorative terms such as "retard" and "gay" that you'd think high school delinquents were running the place. They don't even keep things clean: they don't wipe down their syrup bottles which, because they have 100 different flavors, they keep opened for months and months and get coated with dust; and all the containers they keep their food supplies in don't really get washed, just rinsed off. The owners also take the closest parking spots instead of leaving them open for their customers; they also leave the one handicap spot they have at their N. Chili location unplowed.

I highly suggest that no one support this business; it is a complete disgrace, and there are much more considerate, cleaner, and professional coffee shops out there. As a secret shopper, I can honestly say Jitters is the worst of the lot. —HoratioHotiro

2009-02-19 19:17:05   This place has no idea what customer service is!! My company had placed a delivery order of over $200. The food was 30 minutes late and 3 orders were incorrect. The two delivery girls were rude and quite disgusting appearance wise. I definitely lost my appetite after seeing them handle our food. We will never order from them again and I suggest that you steer clear of them as well!! In a time like this with the economy being the way it is, they should be excelling in making their customers happy. We LOVE Colombinis!!! —Tabitha

2009-04-30 19:32:57   TERRIBLE. The drinks are marginal- the food is inedible. Went yesterday for a meeting and ordered a wrap, the whole thing was flavorless. The people working at the counter looked at me as if they had no idea what I was asking for when I ordered an iced chai. They said they would call us when our food was ready but instead they just set everything on the counter and expected that we would know it was ours and then glared at us when we went to pick it up. Never again.

Addendum: I was referring to the Jitters at Southtown Plaza in my recent review. I have never been to the North Chili store. I will always give a locally owned place a chance before going to a chain (i.e. Starbucks).—ShawnaLusk

2009-05-04 19:46:58   As a former worker and frequent patron of the North Chili Jitters, I have got to say that the negative comments on here are absolutely ridiculous.

At the North Chili Jitters, there are two bins in the back parking lot. One for garbage and the other for... recycling!

Also, everything gets washed thoroughly according to health codes. Perhaps you were too busy scorning the workers to notice?

If you have ever been in the North Chili jitters for more than 10 minutes to get your precious grande-non-fat-soy, extra-foam, sugar free, amaretto-latte you would know that they go through a lot of bottles of syrup. And the infrequently used ones, like Kiwi for instance, all have little caps on them with a ball stopper inside that keeps the air and dust out and delicious flavors in. It's like magic or something.

On the language note, I have never EVER heard one of the owners use foul language. Sometimes one of the high school age workers will burn their hand on YOUR scalding coffee and maybe a "damn" or "crap" will slip out. In my mind, they are perfectly entitled to their profanity of choice. Other than that, it's all G rated.

I am not sure if you are just an angry person in general or what, but Jitters is a friendly, cozy, clean, family-owned business in a college town outside of Rochester. As a secret shopper, I suggest you stick to retail and leave Jitters alone.

Everyone else: the Jitters in North Chili is a great little family owned operation where they roast their own beans and know their customers by name and make every drink custom to order. If that's what you are looking for in a coffee shop, then come on down. The rest of you can go to Starbucks or Tim Horton's. —wingsofcolor

2009-05-19 21:56:45   I've been living on campus at RIT for years and must have driven by this place hundreds of times. Finally decided to go on a quiet Tuesday night (Southtown location). Just grabbed a chocolate malt milkshake to go and I have nothing but good things to say about the customer service and the food. The people were friendly and the milkshake is tasty. I would go back. Looks like they have a big bar in the back with cheap drinks too. —MichaelGoldberg
