Malek's is a bakery on Monroe Avenue. It is under kosher supervision of the RKK- Rochester Kehillah Kosher. All products are Kosher Parve and all baked goods are Pas Yisroel.
The bakery was purchased in January 2022 by Hillel Community Day School; kosher baked goods are essentially unchanged and some breakfast and lunch sandwiches and dips have been added. Malek's was founded in 1977 by Lea Malek, and owned and operated from 2011 until 2022 by Hoang Ngo, who helped the new owners with the transition.

2006-12-14 13:29:43 I stopped going after Leah sold the place. The new owner isn't a particularly pleasant person and he sells stale product as fresh instead of 'day-old'. —ZedOmega
2008-03-19 21:04:49 I have to respectfully disagree with the previous review. While the service does leave something to be desired, the pastries do not. The breakfast pastry selection is amazing, fresh and delectable. I have not tried their bread but the selection is good. The Danish are particularly good and the flourless almond horns are really yummy. —YanaLevin
2008-03-19 21:51:38 Tasty pastries, many of which are pareve. Pretty decent challah too. I will agree that the service can be a bit rushed. —EastSideStephen
2008-04-10 20:10:47 I've been going to Malek's for 30 of my 31 years and have always loved most of what they do. Recently discovered how good their chocolate cake
is. WOW! Definitely give it a shot... you won't be disappointed! —DavidGottfried
2009-05-01 15:10:43 The chocolate babka (large NY style) is simply the best! I bring them down to friends/family in NYC and NJ. —DavidEisenman
2009-06-02 09:45:39 When I hear people say they don't like cheese danish, I know what they've tasted in the past: Clammy cellophane-wrapped imitations covered in slimy icing from the old style thruway rest areas or the continental breakfast bar at a Hampton Inn. Forget that nonsense. If you're not a religious person, you will be changed forever by the cheese danish at Malek's. After you shop here, go across the street to Brownstein's for some real bagels made the way they're supposed to. Everyone knows Wegman's is just kidding with their bagel recipe. —SamKatt
