2009-11-14 06:43:24 Had a very nice "date night" there again last night. The service was, as always, excellent: attentive, quick and unobtrusive. With a full bar, you can start out with a cocktail. Have a nice soup - but leave room for the entries. The food has great flavor, but not overdone - more a light delicate touch with a nice presentation. The specials are quite large and with rice and a soup, good for two. We like to pick two different entries and have lots to take home for the next day (:>). I tried their "Three in One Chicken" a wonderful selection of chicken and snow Peas, General Tso’s chicken and chicken in scallion sauce. Can't wait for leftovers tonight. My wife went for the Chicken Ginger. We know they treat a chicken right !
For us, a nice "Date Night". —BradMandell
2010-10-05 10:22:58 Had gone there 4 or 5 times in the past year and the food has always been decent especially considering that Rochester unfortunately doesn't have exceptional Chinese food that can often be found in some cities with larger Chinese populations or Chinatowns. Went a few days ago for lunch and ordered Chicken w/ Garlic Sauce which is noted as one of the "hot & spicy" dishes but it turned out to be drowning in a sugary sweet sauce. Even had my husband take a taste, as he prefers mild dishes and he said it was "nauseatingly sweet". I ended up eating only my rice, soup and eggroll which came with the meal. When the server asked at the end of the meal if I wanted a box to take home my leftovers, I explained nicely that it was way too sweet for my taste and that I wasn't going to take it home. The owner came to talk to me and was very gracious and explained that they often find that things need to be a bit sweeter for the American population. But I told him that I think this would be sweet for anybody. The owner was very nice and went back to the kitchen and had a less sweet version made for me to take home. I must sadly report that the second version was not much of an improvement. In the meantime I heard from one of the staff that they have a new chef as of a few weeks ago. I'm not going back to eat there in a matter of weeks but I'm still willing to give it another try in a few months to see if things get better with time. The restaurant is always clean and the service is wonderful and I hope that there will be some improvement. —KairakuShugisha
2011-12-15 12:26:33 Drove over there last night with a strong hankering for Ma Pao Tofu. The place was dark, and they had a sign that stated they are temporarily closed.....WHY???? I love it there! I hope they open soon, their food is very good. —LisaRuns
