SECR

Subway Erie Canal Revitalization (SECR) AKA Chill the Fill was a local grassroots organization formed to try to stop Rochester's Historic Subway/Canal from being buried. They were seeking a moratorium, until the community could come to a consensus about how best to recycle the site.

• The subway was built in the original Erie Canal bed after the Canal was rerouted out of Downtown Rochester.
  

• This is an amazing piece of history that every Rochesterian should see.
  

• Time is quickly running out!
  

• In December, the City will spend $21 million to fill the subway with dirt!

2008-10-10 23:09:59   I'm all for doing something with the Aqueduct. Anything! A restored subway line would be sweet. Look at this subway map. Shows the original line and a few others that never happened. —MichaelGovernale
