Sumner Park refers to both a residential street and the green space that splits it. Located in the Lock 66 neighborhood, the name derives from Dr. Charles Sumner, an early practitioner of homeopathic medicine. He worked at Rochester Homeopathic Hospital at 233 Monroe Avenue when it opened in 1889. It eventually became Genesee Hospital.
Today the park is used to host neighborhood social events.
