Union Hill Country Grill was a family restaurant with a small counter eating area in Webster that served breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They featured home-made Pizza and a Friday Fish Fry as well as daily fish fry specials. They did a good take-out business as well.
The entrance from the back parking lot and summertime outside seating that leads through part of the restaurant, but provides handicap access. There was a small convenience store on site as well.
Reason for closure: The Department of Taxation and Finance says James C. Hall, of Ontario, stole more than $240,000 in sales tax over a five-year period. He's also accused of underreporting $2.3 million in taxable sales at his restaurant.
History
The Union Grill building " ... was originally constructed by Frank M. Jones around 1865 ...[and]... served as the Union Hill Post Office. ... William Stokes ... operated a store on the premises until ... 1929. ... then operated by several people including William and Thomas Elliot who purchased it in 1932. William Elliot's children, Eva Elliot Anderson and Jack Elliot worked in the store with their father and continue to remain Webster residents today."

2010-02-23 16:56:16 My wife and I went again today for lunch with a friend. A nice family restaurant where I enjoyed my very hearty vegetable and pasta soup with my grilled cheese sandwich. My wife likes to take Appetizer platters for lunch or dinner and shares some with the table. She enjoyed the Combo Plater (photo above) and we had some left to take-home. Our friend eats here regularly and went with the Meatball Sub - looked packed and tasty. We have been several times and recommend it as nice family restaurant fare. The back room is great when the weather is nice outside and things are in bloom. —BradMandell

2011-02-04 15:51:14 I'm sad this closed! I used to live right across the street, and I always saw myself going back for a Bumz plate sometime. Ce la vie, I guess. —MrsMunson
