About the Team

While the team is not officially recognized as a varsity sport at the University of Rochester, they still maintain a competitive, traveling schedule and regular practices. The players are no less dedicated to the sport and to the team than varsity athletes, and enjoy playing lacrosse at a level that is competitive while not requiring the tremendous time commitment that one finds at the varsity level. Meanwhile, the team's two coaches also have many years of high-level lacrosse experience.

Additionally, the team has full access to the impressive sports facilities at the University of Rochester. Their home field is Fauver Stadium, which is equipped with a new turf surface, seating for 5,200 fans, and lighting for night games. They also practice on the grass of Goergen Field and indoors on the turf in the Goergen Fieldhouse during the cold Rochester winters.

Last year, during the 2006 season, six of the team's players where named to All-Conference teams in the Pioneer Collegiate Lacrosse League. Also, the team finished their regular season ranked first in the PCLL-B division, but lost in a heartbreaker during the playoffs to the University of New Haven, a team they had beaten earlier in the year.

This year, during the 2007 season, due to many scheduling issues and poor weather conditions the team was only able to play three games. However, included in these three was a battle against UR's rival from last year, UNH, in which Rochester emerged on top in a landslide victory.
