The RocWiki community is loose-knit, and not well organized. It relies on the kindness of a few individuals for hosting, domain names, etc. Over the next few months, a basic organization should be created to handle administrative functions. This page will serve as a clearinghouse for information related to organization development.
Cooperative Management Proposal
One potential way to run RocWiki would be under a cooperative model. Anyone (humans, not legal entities) can 'apply' to become members (a very low bar, maybe something like just agreeing to make at least one meeting a year), and can be accepted by the existing members (or through some automatic predefined process). At that point, they have a vote on RocWiki matters. From these self-selected 'members' most activities would be self directed, and initially there would be no 'positions' but there would be 'contact people' (ie, they are the default person to talk to on a matter) covering things like technical, community, abuse, press, etc.
Bans, Hosting options, use of money (for things like stickers), un-bans, etc would come up as a general vote (this needs some fleshing out), and the simple majority of 'all' members, or a 2/3 majority of those voting (which ever is less people) would pass an item.
If this structure is used, if/when RocWiki decides to incorporation someday, it can be incorporated under cooperative law, or a social orgnization (like Rotary, Moose, etc).
Cooperative proposal section is babysat by Far. If you add comments, corrections, etc please do so in italics, and after a few days they can be merged in/de-italicized.
