2013-01-05 20:55:20   I went with my wife and two kids tonight. On entering, my first thought was "They haven't changed a single thing since it was a Perkins". I'm not sure they even bothered replacing any of the paintings or photos.

Anyhow, the service was friendly, although I got the impression that our server was still getting the hang of things; He gave us the bill before asking if we wanted desserts, etc. I was expecting Perkins-quality diner food, but was pleasantly surprised. My jambalaya was actually VERY spicy - exactly how I like it - which is practically unheard of outside of real Cajun restaurants. My wife's salmon had an intriguingly tasty sauce, and the kids both enjoyed their entrees. Portion sizes were refreshingly sane - if our dinners were representative, you're not going to be taking away anything in a doggy bag, but only because you get a reasonable amount of food, not the impossibly large portions of mediocre food that has become standard fare in many diners and family restaurants.

It's worth stopping by if you're in the area. —richmulvey

2013-06-10 08:40:28   Went here on Sunday, made the mistake of thinking it was related to the Corner Bakery (which I've never been to, but the signs have the same font). They are a diner with a nice menu if not more limited than Jay's. I got a bowl of the French Onion Soup and it was pretty good, the server was very good, and the place was incredibly clean. I didn't hear anyone at the table raving about their food so I suspect that it was pretty good and nothing was bad since it all got eaten without delay. —Damiankumor
