The System
In Monroe County the court system calls prospective jurors approximately once every 7-8 years. A prospective juror is sent a juror questionnaire in the mail approximately 10-15 months prior to jury duty. Once a prospective juror has answered the juror questionnaire, they are entered into a pool of eligible jurors. When an eligible juror is selected by the computer system to serve, they are sent a jury summons.
Parking/Directions
When responding to a jury summons, the prospective juror is given directions to the Civic Center Parking Garage. Note: The court system will not reimburse you for any parking costs incurred during jury duty. It is recommended that you not park at a parking meter on your summons. It may be favorable for you to park at one of the smaller local lots, which will cost approximately $3-$4 for the day. The Civic Center Garage will charge you $7.25 to park for the entire day, or $4 to park for half of the day. If you exit and re-enter the garage, you'll pay almost $10.
Eating
On the jury summons it states that refrigerators and microwaves are provided, if juror elects to bring their own food and stay in the Hall of Justice. Several downtown restaurants are also easily within walking distance of the courts.
