Hi there.
I'm a fellow Rochestarian who thinks RocWiki is pretty cool. In general wikis are a good thing™.
I was born and raised here in Rochester; however despite the general distaste out-of-towners have for Rochester (such as some of you big city folk), I can't be swayed, I love my city.
Generally I'm a programmer on the Mac and UNIX platforms and I enjoy it immensly. I'll state right away my general hatred for 'webapps' that are 'ajaxy' with idea of replacing real desktop apps (yeah Google, I'm talking to you). I'm a Mac user and UNIX guru all at once.
Aside from nice walks on a moonlight beach and puppy dogs, I like to pretend I'm a rough and tough outdoorsy type, you know hiking and the like. I prove this by doing short hikes at county parks with my two dogs and watching episodes of 'Man vs. Wild' or 'Survivorman', and 'Good Eats'.
I'm also a general student of the sciences, specifically Computer Science, Astronomy, and Physics and I work at the University of Rochester so I can feed off the superior mental energy of all the Ph.D.s around me.
Lastly, I'm a columnist for the Computer Link Magazine, published monthly and distributed countywide and I have a blog.

2007-03-27 13:41:14 There is a realtor in town with your name... are you sure you arent a realtor? —KimBee
2007-03-27 21:46:28 I too remember my surprise upon first seeing the name. I thought, hey, i know him, but after having met both, i can say they're indeed distinct. A few other notables in this area also have similar or matching names. —JohnLam
2007-03-27 21:59:42 The older and wiser realtor that is Richard Sarkis is my cousin. I'm not very good at selling things, so I can't be a realtor. :-) —RichardSarkis
2008-05-17 13:04:56 Hey, Richard! Are you by any chance distantly related to the Sarkis's of Lawrence, MA? My husband is from there and we when we moved to Rochester, we heard that there was a great Lebanese community here! How great to meet (perhaps) distant cousins! Allah ma'ak! :) —jramey
2008-11-17 10:40:01 Hi Richard, I have to agree with your comments that there is much to be desired about the way the Restaurant material is organized and how it limits things. I think we need some brain-storming on the subject. Maybe a work-around might be to have Lebanese Food and Lebanese Food/Places. The current content of the first page is now on the second page. The Restaurants page and an expanded Lebanese Food page could each use the "Places" for the list of establishments —BradMandell
2009-07-16 17:17:15 No it was not my imagination. I don't appreciate being treated that way as a person and a paying customer for some bland, mediocre food. So I don't recommend them with all the other restaurants to choose from in the area. —ihh
