"Those who came to this city to disseminate disloyal doctrines and to promote mischievous propaganda, are hereby notified that their presence will not be tolerated." — George Eastman
Socialism was an active force in the history of Rochester through the first half of the 20th century. The paper of the local socialist party in our city was known as the Rochester Socialist.
You can still find many socialists in Rochester, many of whom frequent the Public Market to sell their nationally-distributed socialist newspaper. Some of them are very intellegent and are well worth discussing events with for a while. Unfortunately, others are blind believers who can only spout partyline views.
