Swan Market is a German meat market and deli in the Beechwood neighborhood. They also serve German food at lunch, and have German beer on tap. Sometimes (seems to vary by season) there is German music at lunch, including a beer toast every half-hour. Swan's also does catering.

2007-11-08 13:17:15   Great place for lunch. Large portions and fairly cheap. They've got some of the best Bratwurst I've ever had. —GeorgeBluth

2007-11-15 21:52:47   Fantastic sausage, great lunch menu, tremendous quality and value. Try the smoked venison sausage or the cognac salami! —JackPorcello

2009-03-02 13:21:58   My wife and I arrived late for lunch (right at 2 pm) about a month ago. They were happy to accommodate us, even though they were getting ready to close up shop. My wife ordered a sausage plate, and I got the schnitzel. We had beer on tap, an Alt, I can't remember which, and my wife had Spaten, but they've also got a great selection of imported and domestic beers in the case. The owner is friendly, and the place is one of a kind. The Sausage case is an amazing sight to behold. I wish we could go during the week when they're open for lunch. Truly a hidden gem of the city. It exceeded my expectations, which were already high because I love pork product. —ErikReinert

2009-04-14 19:59:20   Wonderful neighborhood place. Food is very good as long as you like German stuff (meats, sausages, kraut, potato salad, etc). Seating is family style so you might make some new friends. Service is very friendly but kinda slow, which is not a bad thing, just don't go if you are in a rush. Leave some time to enjoy. —DottieHoffmann

2009-05-27 14:14:18   This place is a real gem from the food to the staff. I've never been disappointed with the lunches. Don't miss cold case at the back, their are some wonderful offerings to take home. In particular the smoked ham varieties are out of this world, more like a fine Italian prosciutto. You'll never look at deli ham the same again. Prost! —CreamAleDrinker

2009-08-02 07:50:57   Awesome place. We probably only eat out for lunch a handful of times a year, but this place always gets a repeat. Food is fantastic and service is always pleasant. I believe that the last Thursday and Friday of each month feature an accordian player. I should also second the deli case — wonderful Sausages and meats make for a great Charcuterie-style dinner. —RochesterGuy

2009-11-01 12:11:27   Swan market is my favorite lunch in Rochester. Well-made, hearty food, great German beer, and people who make you feel like family. What's not to love? —MarkTichenor

2010-07-09 11:40:26   This place is amazing! Just went for the first time and their selection is great, they were more than happy to let my wife and I try anything we wanted since they have a lot of stuff I'd never seen before. Super friendly people, all the patrons seemed like old friends and just walk in and grab a beer. I wish we had time to stay for lunch but didn't. Trust me though, TRY THE HEAD-CHEESE! it's killer! —KStaats

2011-04-22 21:44:02   This place is fantastic! All of their meat is way above average in taste, texture, seasoning, value. Their bread is fantastic and unique in this region at least. Great selection of beers. Their website pics are accurate as of this date. Whether you eat in or take home (as we did) you can not go wrong here. Fresh or smoked sausages, chops, sandwich meat, schnitzel....it has all been good both times we went recently. Yes....the last Friday of the month with live music can be a bit crowded, but still fun, and authentic German food. —JayGil

2011-09-20 10:45:54   Went a couple weeks ago. Very yummy. —AdrianMartin

2012-03-22 17:20:42   I love the food here. It baffles me that German restaurants don't exist in Rochester. This place is crowded with communal seating but they turn the food out fast and it is delicious. Vegetarians will be unhappy here. Try to sit next to Oskar Mayer, the older gentleman sitting in the corner on the left, he's there every day and quite the character! —karlos

2012-06-18 15:59:16   Great place for lunch, wonderful food, very friendly staff, great selection for take out. Do not be intimidated by the location or family style eating, every time I have eaten here I sit with friendly people who will chat if you want or leave you alone if you prefer. Try it! I just wish my waistline would allow me to visit more often. —sieats
