2007-08-31 10:52:47 This is one of my parents favorite restaurants, so I have been there a million times.
I have always had a good meal there, but nothing amazing. It has a very casual country club feeling to it and is hard to find, but has been there forever and is a mainstay of Penfield. That must say something?
This is more of an average restaurant. —MrRochester
2008-03-20 16:53:33 Had dinner here a few weeks ago, and it was a very nice meal. Dining room is cozy. Classy but not formal. The bread basket had thee different kinds of bread, with butter and liverwurst. What fun!
Potato pancakes were moist and firm, and were elevated by a surprisingly good homemade applesauce.
My unbreaded veal schnitzel was huge, and covered with a nicely balanced tomato ragout. It came with german potato salad and red cabbage.
My companion loved her chilean sea bass atop risotto. The fish was moist, and tasted very fresh.
Our server was very professional, and helpful with my dietary needs.
I would have liked to see a better beer selection, given the amount of German food on the menu, but it was a minor issue in an altogether pleasant dinner. —EastSideStephen
2013-09-13 10:53:07 As a seasonal pub I would question whether this place still deserves to be categorized as an "Upscale" restaurant. —jgerek
