Amiel's serves 'Rochester's Original Submarine Sandwiches'.
The chain at one time was much larger (over 20 locations), but now just has a couple of locations. The son of the original owner still operates the business. See Amiel's History Page for more details.

2008-04-11 14:32:12 This place has the best roast beef, no question. The bread is really good - we always pick up a bag of day-old if there's any left for awesome lunches during the week. They also do have horseradish mayo which I enjoy best with the roast beef. One of the first times I went there when it wasn't busy the guy making my sub kindly sliced up a pickle for me and put it on my sub but that hasn't happened since. The dining area is a little dirty but otherwise I've always had a good sub from this place. Being from MD, we never had anything but Subway (ick!) in my town so I thought I had died and gone to heaven when I ate here. —StephanieTodd

2008-07-20 15:27:25 Amiel's makes a good sub. The rolls are soft, and I appreciate the little things, like asking if I want salt and pepper before wrapping the sandwich (yes).
I much prefer DiBella's roast beef, which is a deep red. Amiel's looks like turkey, and while tasty, pales in comparison.
Bonus points for selling bags of old rolls for a dollar. —ZachSmalt
2008-12-09 12:50:23 Amiel's makes my favorite sub. The night crew there are clowns but one of them makes great sandwich suggestions. The roast beef is always great! —BatGuano
2009-01-08 13:53:31 I do not like Amiel's and will not go back. I went there expecting a place that pushes roast beef sandwiches to make a good sandwich. Unfortunately, the choices I had were so limited that I could not get what I wanted. The bread was not very good - too soft and chewy. The roast beef was ok, but not great. I tried to order swiss cheese, but was told they don't have swiss cheese. What they do have is a 'swiss-american blend' cheese. What the heck is that? I tried to order thousand island dressing. They looked at me like I had lobsters growing out of my ears. So I asked if they had mayo and ketchup. Again with the look. They gave me one mayo packet and two ketchup packets, and I had to dress my sandwich myself. Not worth the work, not worth the price. (Henrietta Location) —Petey

2012-01-26 13:05:23 I am very very disappointed in the sub I got at Amiel's today. The bread was pretty good, but they didn't even have what I wanted on the menu (ham, turkey, salami—which is pretty common as far as I can tell) and I am fairly sure I had to pay extra for three types of meat. They put 2 small pieces of provolone on a 14-in. sub (I usually save half for dinner), 3 pieces of ham and turkey, and they did not have any toppings beside lettuce, onion, tomato, hot cherry peppers (ew), and red peppers. No banana peppers or olives or basically any other options. It was very skimpy. I went to the Henrietta location, but if you want an amazing sub, I would recommend going around the corner to DiBella's (delish!!!) or about 10 minutes away to Martusciello's Bakery (THE Best subs I have ever had, and they're cheap!!!! Well worth the drive) —StephanieD
