2006-01-05 00:10:18   How does Ashley's compare to the MacGregor's selection? —MichaelComet

2006-01-22 20:10:19   Ashley's has a great selection of beers without the bad sportsbar ambience of MacGregor's. Arbor Brewing Company, on Washington St., is also a great place for beer in Ann Arbor. —TabineKotaro

2006-05-07 12:16:28   Cigars are not stored in climate controlled conditions, so they are likely to be dried out - so watch out. —BrentIrvine

2006-08-18 08:46:17   Big Brother is watching. - I haven't been to BOTW in a while because they started scanning people's driver’s licenses. I don't care what excuse they make, I refuse to allow them to track my alcohol purchases. It's too bad they've decided to pursue such an unwanted practice because they really do have a fine selection. —ZedOmega

2006-08-18 08:56:21   Originally part of the BOTW profile, I moved these down to the Comment’s section:

If you're a fan of Beers of the World and you're ever in Ann Arbor, check out Ashley's on State Street—with 60 beers on tap and 70 in bottles, it's sure to please.

If you want to save gas and time, however, MacGregor's offers 100+ beers on tap in several location in the Rochester area.

2006-09-22 17:15:16   I have never had my driver's license scanned, and have been there several times in the past two months. Great store to get lost in. —BenAuerbach

2006-09-22 18:25:12   Amazing selection, good prices. —TravisOwens

2006-10-22 08:06:06   This place is awesome. A ridiculous amount of beer organized by country of origin. —DanMcKeown

2006-12-22 16:15:27   Seriously, best place ever. They tailored a beer selection to my restaurants menu (Wild Noodles) and its done wonders in my customers satisfaction. They know what they're talking about. —SumitGupta

2006-12-22 16:20:05   My only (minor) criticism is that the US microbrews section doesn't seem to be obviously organized, otherwise it's really a Rochester treasure —TomMaszerowski

2007-03-07 09:38:18   Never had my ID scanned, in fact, I wasn't IDed last time I was in there. Great store. a gem. —DavidGersh

2007-03-24 12:12:09   AWESOME store. I meant to stop in for just a second after lunch at Fox's Deli, but I ended up wandering around for quite some time, in awe at the selection. I even found myself contemplating purchasing some homebrewing supplies. In addition to the great selection of beer, there's a great selection of glassware and collectible steins. I was pleased by the large hard cider collection (I'm a big fan of cider). Also, our IDs were not scanned. —RachelBlumenthal

2007-04-13 12:12:47   Update to my above post: Went for the first time in about 2 years and they weren't scanning ID's - didn't even proof me. I'm glad to see that others here have entered comments that they haven't had their ID's scanned either. Seems the staff at BOTW made the right move and stopped the practice. I can now go back to being a regular again! —ZedOmega

2007-06-02 20:19:30   Be very careful about dates here. You should be VERY suspicious of almost every SALE going on. The beers are on sale because their dates expired probably the year before. CHECK THE DATES BEFORE PURCHASING. —RorisonMeadows

2007-11-09 17:44:20   Unbelievable amount of beer here. I've almost missed mortgage payments because all the different kinds you can get. —GeorgeBluth

2007-11-10 14:48:55   A great place to walk around and look, but I wouldn't buy any of the less popular beers. I could write my name in the dust on some of the bottles. —MarcVera

2007-11-12 22:15:24   What a terrific place. An aisle for each country. I even found some of the Lithuanian and Latvian beers that I enjoyed abroad this summer. I love the fact that you can buy single bottles. My brother came to visit a few weekends ago and was sad that he missed the NYC beer festival at the Jacob Javits center, but here we found it's like a festival where you can buy one of each of so many different brews. Even the beer with some dust on it tastes good, from my recent experience. —BenMargolis

2007-11-27 12:03:30   Huge selection, but overpriced. As stated before, I have found much of the stock very old. Ok place to try something different or get something hard to find. Cigars aren't well kept. I can get my favorites (Brooklyn Brewery, Sam Adams, Otter Creek) at Wegmans cheaper. —JackPorcello
