The Center for Disability Rights, (CDR) is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1990. They have offices in Rochester, Geneva, Albany, and Corning. Their offices are also home to the Regional Council on Independent Living which dates back to 1966. The CDR website describes themselves as:
"community-based advocacy and service organization for people with all types of disabilities. ...
Since 1998, CDR has been recognized as an Independent Living Center by the National Council on Independent Living, making CDR part of a national network of Independent Living Centers that provide non-residential and non-medical services. CDR uses a peer model where people with disabilities show other people with disabilities how to live independently and advocate for themselves. The Center for Disability Rights, Inc. continues to be a unique fusion of advocacy and supportive services.

2015-08-20 10:04:00 Our agency works with CDR in their pooled trust program. Have had many problems with CDR- Sending late rent- no follow-up on problem resolution. Sent money to CDR for a mutual client, that they were not entitled to because they passed away- notified CDR in May of 2015. Now it is August 2015, and we are still waiting for them to return the funds. Every time I call to check on the status of the return of funds, I have to explain the story all over again. They keep saying "It's being processed." But, it's not. —Tbigongi
