Charlotte Appliance is a well known Rochester furniture and appliance store in Charlotte. It was founded in 1923 by Tony Agostinelli Sr. and his wife Theresa. The primary building they occupy used to be a movie theater, as can be seen from the photo. Some evidence of the layout of the old theater can be seen in various parts of the building.

Awards

In 2007, Charlotte was awarded the Democrat & Chronicle's Rochester's Choice Award for "Appliance Store".2

Charlotte was also voted "Best Furniture Store" in City Newspaper's 'Best of Rochester' awards in 2008, 2009, and 2010.345

2007-08-02 19:15:34   OUTSTANDING service here. We bought a TV and a Dryer-delivered and installed professionally. Very reasonably priced. —PeteB

2008-12-23 17:58:43   We bought a double refrigerator, glass-top stove, washer, and dryer from them in 2002. Every one of the appliances has given us problems and the washing machine has never been fixed correctly despite their service tech coming out about five or six times. We would not recommend them to anyone. —BradMandell

2009-08-16 15:21:33   Our experience could not be more different, we've purchased probably 90% of our appliances and beds here and never been unhappy. Service has always been good, prices are close to those at any other store (they will bargain a bit especially if you have proof of a price elsewhere) and they have always taken good care of us. We always do our homework via the web and Consumer Reports, so maybe we've just made good choices for reliability. They missed a mattress delivery once, we called, and they sent a truck out special right at the end of the day to take care of it. These are the local guys, give them a shot before going to the chain store. —DottieHoffmann

2009-08-16 20:50:48   Glad you had good luck Dottie, but we chose each of the models from among the top 1-3 in Consumer Reports and still got lemons. Our refrigerator had the compressor fixed twice and still makes high pitch annoying whining noises. The washing machine never mixes correct water temperature, except cold water wash. We are looking forward to moving so we can get new appliances. —BradMandell

2009-08-17 14:36:56   I'm sorry that Brad's experience was so unfortunate, but they are certainly not the experience of our family nor the experience of everyone I know. Bar none, Charlotte has the best customer service and selection of appliances in the area. They worked tirelessly to get us a good deal on a range and washer that was a good product that was within our budget (they took more than $200 off initial asking price). We ended up walking out with a Bosch washer that was far superior to its competitors and a range that we had not considered and which far outperforms other ranges I've cooked on that cost 2-3 times the price. Our $100 protection plan will soon be cashed in as we have not had to use it towards the purchase of a new dryer. Would the big box stores even consider an offer such as that? —RochesterGuy

2010-01-20 10:00:05   Sorry Rochester Guy, but I have to go with Brad, and I had horrible customer service, mean horrible customer service, and poor quality install, and trying to get a resolution to the problems with people who thought yelling was a communication style, ick. And, no one I tell my experience to is at all surprised. Wish I had asked around more before buying and given Charlotte a big pass by. —RocMom
