Rochester native Chuck Mangione is a jazz composer who will forever be both loved and hated for "Feels So Good" and many other compositions that can't be dislodged from your head.

Mangione was born on November 29, 1940 in Rochester, where he was also raised. He attended the Eastman School of Music from 1958 to 1963, and later returned to be director of the school's Jazz Ensemble from 1968 to 1972.

In 2000, Mangione's 60th birthday celebration was held at the Eastman Theater, and raised over $50,000 for St. John's Nursing Home.

These days, most people known him in animated form. He provides the voice for a caricature of himself on "[WWW]King of the Hill" where he is the celebrity spokesman for "Mega-Lo-Mart."

His brother Gap Mangione can be found performing at the Woodcliff Hotel & Spa several nights a week.

On February 12, 2009, two members of his band (saxophonist [wikipedia]Gerry Niewood and guitarist [wikipedia]Coleman Mellett) were killed in an [wikipedia]airliner crash outside of Buffalo.
