CoMMoN was a collective of individuals interested in progressing DIY art and music in Rochester, NY. Their mission was create an healthy environment for local artists, writers, and musicians to present and display their work, involving and integrating the community, free of charge and open to all ages.
CoMMoN was founded in April, 2008, by John Horner and Savannah Richards along with a large community of artists, writers, and musicians, after The Landfill (a livingroom proformance space which had opperated for nearly a year) as well as other DIY spaces were shut down. Shortly after, some of the individuals involved were featured in a City Newspaper article along with members of A/V Space.http://www.rochestercitynewspaper.com/music/articles/2008/04/ENTERTAINMENT-Not-your-neighbors/
CoMMoN booked art and music events at legitimate venues such as The Bug Jar, and the lovin' cup, in and around Rochester, NY, and worked to foster a good relationship with the City.
