Now the location of South Wedge Colony Bar & Grille.
Dashen was an Ethiopian restaurant located on the corner of South and Alexander Street in the South Wedge. Not as formal (or, some would say, nice) an experience as Abyssinia, but generally cheaper. Opinions vary on the food's quality. The author thinks it is better than Abyssinia; a past author thought it was worse. Try both and see for yourself!
Every Saturday night from 9pm until 2am there's an African DJ (the regulars are from Zimbabwe and Mali) playing the full range of African dance music.

2006-08-24 14:21:17 I really enjoy the food at Dashen and make a point to go there every few months. I stopped eating at Abyssinia since Dashen is more or less in my general neighborhood. For some reason I find myself more relaxed at Dashen perhaps because it is less formal as is mentioned above. —ZedOmega
2007-08-29 14:45:53 Dashen is good, but it doesn't feel as clean to me as Abyssinia. We haven't been back in a while; perhaps the time has come for a repeat visit. —KatieSchmitz
2007-11-14 12:39:51 I think Dashen is closed. I drive by a few times a week and haven't seen it open for many months now.
2007-11-21 10:48:28 Well, after months of darkness the open sign was back on again a couple days ago. I'll have to get my but in there and find out what's up and enjoy another yummy meal! —ZedOmega
2008-02-01 09:02:09 Is this place open? Closed? A front for organized crime? I live nearby and I've never seen customers in there, and the blinds are always shut. What gives? —OwenThompson
2008-02-06 09:00:37 The open sign is no longer in the front window and all the side windows are boarded up.
With the exception of one night in November, this place hasn't been open for a good 5+ months. —ZedOmega
2008-03-07 08:39:16 I've heard rumors of this building becoming part of Mr. Wilton's empire. —KristinTheOriginator
2008-06-26 13:10:33 CLOSED - Now the proud location of baseball caps and Budweiser, AKA South Wedge Colony Bar & Grille. —ZedOmega
