2006-11-29 22:24:34 Great place to go to get some dishes known in the Utica area like Greens and Chicken Riggis. —ScottHendler
2006-11-29 23:15:58 My wife was there this past Friday and was extremely impressed-she had Chicken Parmagiana —PeterBoulay
2007-03-23 06:03:05 I've eaten there a number of times and each time I go, the food seems to get worse. I have always ordered their specialty, "Delmonico" but lately, it has gone down hill. —DonPablo
2007-03-28 05:10:52 Went again for the 3rd time last night and was still unimpressed and overwhelmed. Luckily we had gift certificates beacuse it wouldn't have been worth it if we paid full price. —JcPop
2007-04-11 19:29:07 i wasnt impressed they cook their steaks at to high of a temp so the outside is almost burned and the inside mostly pink and well done means no pink right? —JadeRaven
2007-07-23 16:00:47 Don't do it. No, seriously, not even if you're really hungry and it's the only place open. The hostess tried to seat my guest and I behind a party of 18 even though the place was 1/2 empty. My server was incomprehensibly inept. Their 24 oz Delmonico for $15.99 wasn’t worth $10. It was burned on the outside and very much rare compared to the medium-rare order I asked for. And as for the quality of the beef itself, I’ve got to guess they’re using USDA Standard or Commercial grade meats. At $15.99 it’s a perfect example of the old saying “If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.” —ZedOmega
2007-09-12 14:27:10 It's great if you like hearing "Happy Birthday" 28 times during your meal. Otherwise, steer clear. —MarcVera
2007-10-09 16:54:34 The first time I went here, when it first opened in Rochester, I was really unimpressed with my meal/the place overall. I returned about a month ago, ordered a different cut of steak (a leaner one) and liked the food much better the second time around. The garlic cheese bread was also a pretty tasty appetizer, but I was disappointed that they didn't bring us a basket of regular bread too. I know, I'm a carb hound. I didn't like where I was seated either time. The hostesses weren't very friendly either, like they hated their lives, though the wait staff seemed nice enough. —SaraChristine
2007-10-10 00:30:20 A decent Italian-ish restaurant. I'd skip the namesake Delmonico steak — order the Filet Marsala instead. —NathanHenderson
2007-11-10 15:02:16 My husband and I were completely unimpressed with this place. If you have the word "steakhouse" in your restaurant's name, wouldn't it be common sense that you'd actually know how to cook steak? My husband asked for medium and his steak was just as rare as mine was, which was wrong as well since I asked for medium rare. The meat was also a terrible cut. I most likely will not go back. —CatMagro
2007-12-04 18:09:29 The steak I ordered was alright, but the Penne Pasta on the side was disgusting. I found the food to be alright, but the atmosphere of the restaurant disturbed me a bit. All of the wait staff was female, and they looked like hooters with a little more clothing on. —RochesterCalifornia
2008-03-02 19:35:43 Ugh. Please have one nice steak that is a reasonable size. Please. —ClareDygert
2008-03-10 20:43:09 Not very great at all. The Delmonico steak is absolutely nothing special, in fact, I'm not sure I'd feed it to my dog. The pasta on the side was nasty, right out undercooked and rubbery—and the meat sauce is too meaty and hardly saucy at all. I'd recommend heading over to McDonald's for a better piece of meat. —LincolnComet
2008-03-22 09:12:24 Great atmosphere, VERY expensive and what can i say? about a chain and frozen food prepared in factory 1,000 miles away! crap! and a long wait to eat crap! —JohnLance
2008-03-24 09:30:53 I'm not going to say it is the best place ever, but I don't think the food is prepared 1,000 miles away - it is a chain that is in upstate new york only. I have also never had to wait. —SaraChristine
2008-04-11 14:40:11 This is place is waaaay too crowded and packed to enjoy a meal with anyone other than the person you're sitting directly next to. The food is good, my husband loves the lasagna and I'm partial to the sliced sirloin. The cannolis are alright (I've had better) but the Tiramisu was awesome! The hostesses - the ones dressed up like little hoochie mobsterettes were a little snippy and the waitstaff made themselves scarce. We never had to wait long the one time we did have to wait, but I wouldn't ever wait longer than just a few minutes to eat here. This was a good place to come with picky eaters considering their run-of-the-mill Italian-American fare. —StephanieTodd
2008-05-06 16:09:04 My namesake Delmonico Steak was awful and my pasta wasnt too great either.
The place makes me sick to my stomach to look at, its a big Italian cliche. If you love the Sopranos, then you will love Delmonicos. The commercials are worse.
I wont be back. —MrRochester
2008-07-06 16:51:54 Yawn. Chicken marsala was not good. Hubby's steak was mediocre at best. For those prices, you're much better off at Hawthorne's. —DGandDJ
2008-07-29 09:27:24 Wow, reading these comments makes me wonder if we're talking about the same restaurant! I have always been a huge fan of this place. Overall I've tried three or four different dishes here and I was very happy every time. The Delmonico steak was always cooked close to perfect. (It has gone downhill though, I think - as the last time I was there I think I ended up cutting out close to half the steak in fat.) Another dish my girlfriend and I love is Frutti de Mare. Love it! Another dish I tried was the lasagna, and once again, a big hit. I have been to most of the Italian restaurants in Rochester and I would choose Delmonico's any day!
And, the waitresses are hot, even my girlfriend took note!
The only major annoyance is that for a place that wants to appear more upscale, they have way too many Applebee's-like Happy Birthday jingles with a whole bunch of uninspired personnel with sparklers come out chanting something indiscernible but very very loud and present the recipient with a dessert. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this place. —JeffStetz
2008-12-04 00:06:30 Ordered steaks and pasta. This place should not have "steakhouse" in its name. The steak tasted just like the far below par "steaks" of Applebee's or TGIF type of restaurants. The pasta was bland and average, though I can't say much to its authenticity or taste since I haven't visited Italy or had an Italian family's homemade dinner. Our party of four waited for over an hour for a seat despite watching over 5 other parties come in after us and be seated before us. Although the manager and hostesses gave poor service to us, the waiter was very nice, though he was an RIT student as our party was.
Our rating: Bad food, (mostly) bad service. —JenFromDC
2008-12-04 15:52:34 My brother and I came here last weekend for Thanksgiving, and while he enjoyed his Shrimp Scampi, I was less than enthused overall. Bread was good, but cold, the salad, while at least not just chunks of iceberg in a glass bowl, wasn't anything to write home about, and the Chicken Marsala that I had was tender - but lacking in any essence of Marsala about it. The angel hair pasta was good, and nothing was horrible - just not exceptional.
On the good side, the service was pretty good. I'd give the place another try - but it's not on my go-to list, really. —ScottTaylor
2009-01-30 19:33:31 wonderful, wonderful. every single thing on the menu is made to order, just the way you want it, including the hand cut meats (steaks, pork, chicken). nothing is microwaved, or pre-prepared. the steaks are obviously of high quality. the place is busy for a reason... it's unrealistic to expect a popular restaurant to seat you right away on a saturday night. i'm a regular and have tried many entrees on the menu...never been disappointed. —pbjilly
2009-03-22 21:37:35 i actually just left from having dinner here .I am in the restaurant business myself so i seem to look a little closer at the food and service..We had a waiter named Jordan which by far was the best waiter i have ever had ever, polite, attentive, knowledgeable all in all great server.we had the Delmonico and i had the fillet Mignon and again i have to say it was delicious!!!!I was very impressed and will recommend and return to dine hear again.. —G.Soklaropoulos
