Eastridge High School is part of the East Irondequoit Central School District. Located on East Ridge Road, near Interstate 590, a Wegmans and a Regal Movie Theater, it was once known for having the highest suspension rate in Monroe County. This is less of an issue today, as it employs a number of security guards, particularly after a series of bomb threats in 2002.
Its football team had a reputation for weak performance, but the team bucked this trend in 2003, when they won Section 4 Divisionals. The Music Department, currently headed by Mr. Hoffman, Mr. Facklam (as of 2003) and Mr. Messmer, has preformed very well in state wide marching band competitions, and continues its drive for excellence.
Eastridge uses the Illinois Math Program instead of the New York State Standard; when the graduating class of 2003 went to take entry exams to colleges inside NYS, many of them had to retake classes. This issue is as of yet unresolved.
Eastridge Musicals are extremely well done and were recognized in RBTL's (Rochester Broadway Theater League) stars of tomorrow in which in 2006 their show Crazy For You recieved 7 nominations including Outstanding Musical and Most recently in 2007 Thoroughly Modern Millie which recieved 6 nominations including outstanding Musical.
