Demolished (as of 1985) |
Holleder Stadium was originally Aquinas Memorial Stadium but was renamed in honor of Maj. Donald Holleder. Holleder, a football star for both Aquinas Institute and Army, was killed in Vietnam in 1967. Besides being a football venue by Aquinas Institute, Holleder was the home of the former Rochester Lancers professional soccer team and used as a concert site (the Grateful Dead played there multiple times).
The stadium was built in 1949 at the corners of Ridgeway Avenue and Mount Read Boulevard and was demolished in 1985. The site is now occupied by the Holleder Technology Park. The demolition was not without some controversy and there are many in Rochester hoping to see Holleder's name once again in the public eye.
