Monroe County operates periodic Household Hazardous Waste collection events at the ecopark facility, generally about twice a month. There are also occasional collections run at mobile sites in individual towns. For Monroe County residents with non-industrial hazardous wastes, the service is free. You may bring up to 30 gallons of liquid hazardous waste and 75 pounds of solid hazardous waste per visit. They don't take 55 gallon drums.
To schedule an appointment on-line go to the appointment scheduler. You may call 753-7600 option 3 for more information.

Once an appointment is scheduled, it's pretty easy: load up your trunk with your hazardous wastes, drive there, pop the trunk, and they'll carry it away. Quick and efficient.
Electronic wastes (e.g., computers, cell phones, televisions) are hazardous and must be recycled, as well. Either take them to the ecopark, check recycling options, or check the page of computer stores for someone who will take your unwanted equipment.
