The ecopark is a recycling facility run jointly by Monroe County and Waste Management Inc. with the intent of keeping unwanted materials out of the Mill Seat Landfill and the environment in general. The facility is located near the southwest end of the Greater Rochester International Airport off of Paul Road.
Many common materials are collected at the ecopark, including electronic waste, scrap metal, clothing, curbside recyclables, bulky plastics, etc. See their website for the complete listing. The process is simple - just load up whatever unwanted materials you have that are on their list, drive to the ecopark and into their big building, and the staff will direct you to the bins and rolloffs for each of the materials collected. Often they will even help you with the unloading.
Their website also has a useful Prospector function that links other recycling options in the community.
Several days per month the ecopark is the site of the Household Hazardous Waste Program by appointment only.
