2007-08-10 13:40:06 Had lunch here today, the spring roll and salad preceding the Pho Soup (beef) entree were delicious. The pho was a bit bland but good once kicked up with their homemade hot sauce (ask for it). Definitely will be coming back to try something else. —DarrenKemp
2007-08-13 20:15:41 Had dinner here recently. The spring roll was tasty. The soup and stir fried vegetables - a little bland. The crispy chicken with sesame seeds was a big hit. The menu will, hopefully, be expanded. The selection of bubble teas was very nice, but overpriced. Overall, a good addition to the Rochester dining scene. Server obviously inexperienced, but very pleasant and enthusiastic. The sticky rice was a little dense. —YanaLevin
2007-08-19 11:30:44 I had a great lunch here yesterday. The decor was nice and the service was friendly. I had one of the best bubble teas I'd ever had—the bubbles were the perfect shape, texture, and taste. We split spring rolls for an appetizer—good presentation and light, crispy taste. We each got a noodle dish (Thai style glass noodle and roasted duck noodle). The portions were large and the food was good, but next time I think I'll order it extra-spicy. I had green tea ice cream for dessert, and it was presented very nicely in a martini glass with fresh blueberries, grapes, and mint leaves. I will definitely go back, and I look forward to trying the $25/person 6 course traditional Laos meal for a special occasion. —RachelBlumenthal
2007-09-15 08:32:11 I returned a few nights ago to try out the 6 course traditional Laos meal, and it was a great meal. The service was extremely friendly and the servers and owner (who ended up serving parts of our meal) repeatedly apologized for unimportant tiny mistakes. The bubble tea was just as amazing as last time and I have no complaints about the soup, appetizer, and papaya salad. Next came the main course. I got the grilled chicken, which came in a house teriyaki type sauce. The sauce was light and really tasty and the chicken was cooked perfectly. The portion was huge and I was already starting to get full after the first few courses! My boyfriend chose the grilled fish, and it came in a green chili sauce that he didn't love, but the fish was cooked well and the owner said that everyone else loves the sauce, so it's properly more of a matter of personal taste than a bad sauce. Both the jasmine rice and the sticky rice were good. Try eating the sticky rice with your hands—it's easier than using utensils, and it's traditionally eaten with hands anyway. For dessert I got the green tea ice cream again (still good) and my boyfriend got a berry sorbet. We were relaxing with a pot of green tea when the owner brought over a delicious piece of chocolate cake for my boyfriend's birthday. Jasmine's is a really great addition to the collection of Asian restaurants in the area and I'd highly recommend the traditional 6 course dinner to anyone. —RachelBlumenthal
2007-09-25 17:03:17 The food is great! EVERYTHING on the menu is fantastic, I went back a couple times because I wanted to try everything. I haven't been disappointed yet! The servers are fantastic and VERY friendly. Now and days servers are very rude and bring out the food and can care less about their customers, but not at Jasmine's. And the owner comes out and checks on the tables from time to time so that was nice. I would DEFINITELY recommend this place to anyone who loves Asian cuisines and even if you don't there are entrees you can choose from. I brought my 3 year old son and he loved their chicken tenders, very accomodating. —LucyCerezo
2007-10-18 13:58:25 On Rachel's recommendation, I took my partner there for his birthday and everything was amazing! The owners came over and spoke to us, told my partner happy birthday, offered us a free cocktail. We also had the Laos dinner, which was so good. We'll definitely be back. It's rare to find a new restaurant in this city where the people working there are *genuinely happy* that you are there and *actually care* about what you think of the food. —MarcVera
2007-10-18 14:11:05 Whilw their food tends to be spiced for milder palletes, they do make it well and I have not seen such enthusiatic, friendly service in a long time. —LanceReed
2007-10-22 12:47:07 My husband and I ate there for the first time over the weekend. Wow. Great atmosphere, great food, great service, great green tea martini. Can't wait to go back! —ElizMazz
2007-11-03 20:04:22 Went there tonight with the family. Started out promising and kept getting worse from there. Ordered 3 appetizers and 2 entrees. First appetizer, chicken sate arrived in about 10 minutes. Good sauce, chicken a bit dry. 20 minutes later, still missing 2 appetizers. Waitress came over and apologized and said they are back up in the kitchen and the other apps would be out soon. 10-15 minutes later the entrees and apps come out together. I immediately say I don't want the apps at this point since my entrees were here. I ordered the crispy shrimp. It was ice cold. As if they just took it out of the fridge. I sent it back. SPoke with the manager/owner about the apps and the entree and was told that they would take care of the check. Within 5 min. my entree came out again. Not sure if they just popped it in the microwave.
Shrimp was good, one of them however was spoiled. After we finished manager comes with the check and had given me 30% off. I said, you told me at the front of the restaurant that you would take care of the check. His reply was, "oh, so you don't want to pay. He takes my CC and then gives back to me the cc and cc slip without my actual bill. I went up to the cashier and asked for my bill. Low and behold, the 2 apps that I sent back were still on the bill. I crossed them out and said that I sent these back. She had the audacity to tell me that the manager said i ate them anyway. Told her he has no clue what he is talking about. he didn't seem to care about any of these issues. Gentleman sitting accros from me sent back his entree as well because it was cold. Had to stand at the hostess desk for 10 minutes wating for them to figure out how to correct the bill and refund the cc. Restaurant is a mile from my house and I will never go back again. —JordanMatthew
2007-11-06 21:41:10 Yesterday was my first time at JAF and it was excellent. Great service, great food and people. I tried the laos dinner with my wife seemed to be pricy but we tried it anyway. We put in our orders and the food came out in short period time and it didn't stop coming. The dishes looked to die for. We finished off with our dessert and that was also excellent. I reccomend Jasmine's to anyone and can't wait to go back. —KevinWinn
2007-11-06 22:08:01 Had dinner here a few days ago to celebrate my 8th Anniversary!! The food was so different and tasted great. Not to mention the presentation of my king prawn dish, was so nice i didn't want to eat it. It's amazing!! I would recomend the king prawn dish if u like seafood! My wife had the pan fry seabass .....I usually dont go for fish however when I tried it, it wasn't as bad as i thought. The sauce was so excellent I ordered it to go. I will defently be more open minded about ordering fish on any menu now. Also the owners came and asked about my dinner and they were very friendly people. They explained how they opened the place and how the food came from their original roots. They also surprised us with a chocolate cake for dessert.
- Great place, try it for yourself! —JustinSheckler
2007-11-07 16:46:01 I went out to dinner over the weekend with my mother and husband for my birthday, and it was fabulous! My waitress was the sweetest girl ever, she always came back with a smile on her face when she came to ask how everything was going. I had the famous rib eye, which was seasoned in the house special sauce, and the papaya salad that came along with my meal was delicious, a bit spicy but thats just how I like it. THE FOOD WAS DIFFERENT AND JUST AMAZING! My husband told our waitress it was my birthday, and then 5 minutes later, they come out singing happy birthday with a beautifully decorated plate of chocolate cake and tarro, which of course was abosolutely to die for. They will deffinately be seeing me again... =] welcome to the neighborhood Jasmine's! —VickyBeckham
2007-11-18 02:49:42 We had dinner here a couple of weeks ago and are vegetarian. I do not recommend this place for vegetarian as they only had 2 veg entrees and neither was very good. Very little flavor and the vegetables were drenched in sauce. Also, I tried the bubble tea and it was the worst I have ever had. They over brewed the tea so it was very very bitter. It was also the most expensive bubble tea I've had. The food might be better if you are a meat eater. —MariaBaldwin
2008-01-03 15:10:34 I ate here on New Year's Eve. I am also a vegetarian, and had a fantastic dining experience with plenty of options. I had a vegetable spring roll, spicy vegetable salad, vegetable curry, and some sort of delicious custard thing for dessert. All of the food was impeccable and all of the veggies were fresh and crispy (rare for Asian dining in Rochester).
My father, who is not a vegetarian, loved his spring roll, papaya salad, sea bass entree, and green tea ice cream. We also had Thai iced teas, which were excellent. The server was possibly the friendliest server I have ever had. What an amazing meal! I will definitely be back! —ChelseaAllinger
2008-02-19 00:11:24 My girlfriend and I went to this place today after I found it on Rochester Wiki because I wanted to take her some place with some home cooking (she's from Laos). Well Jasmine definitely delivered. We had the Laos dinner.. the sticky rice and papaya salad was great and very authentic according my girl. The meat was a bit over sauced for our tastes but it is fusion so anything goes. The desserts were excellent and the presentation was better than most any place you will find in Rochester. Overall great experience, unique food, friendly owners and staff and great ambiance. —SheikhWasim

2008-03-14 11:56:33 Just had lunch there with my wife. Fantastic place. The food was delicious and very fresh. The tastes were definitely unique. We can't wait to go back. —ChampsElysses
2008-03-21 23:57:31 Jasmine's Asian Fusion was quite an experience! At first I didn't know what I was getting myself into; I thought it would be a typical Chinese buffet or something? But hell no! It was much, much more than I ever expected! First I must say, we needed a restaurant like this here in Webster! I've always wanted to take my wife to a fancy Asian place like the ones in New York City but there was never one around. There was Phuket, a similar restaurant (food not as great) that was in our community before, but nothing like Jasmine's. I love how trendy the place was but at the same time a little casual. I felt very comfortable and at home because my server was a really good guy. He recommended the Laos dinner because it was our first time there. Man was it worth it! Everyone who knows me knows I can eat! And that was just right for me!
It was a 6 course meal for just about $20 dollars. It was well worth it! The owners Debbie and Sue were the two friendliest people that I've met in a long time since I moved here to Webster 2 years ago. Both beautiful might I add!!! I think I even met their whole family because it's a family owned restaurant! ...You can go to a place with great food, and you can go to a place with great service... but it's very rare when you get to go to a place with great service and great food all at one place. Let me tell you, Jasmine's got that both!! I would also recommend the bubble teas, it's a cool sweet drink with many flavors... the cool part is the little balls at the bottom, it tastes like gummy bears - very good! I loved it! For anyone who reads this, be open minded about things and try something new! You never know unless you try and I'm very happy that I and my wife tried this place out. I wish nothing but the best for this family owned restaurant!! Will be back soon! —TommyLeigh

2008-11-20 21:00:57 Absolutely fantastic. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. Yes, it is a bit of a haul...but it is worth it. I tried the Hot and Sour Grouper and it was so delicious - it was actually hot and sour..and not sweet at all. I was also told the Grilled Fish with Mango Salsa and Pork Ribs with Special Sauce were amazing. The service was spectacular. They were extremely accommodating on modifying dishes. I strongly recommend this place. Best South East Asian restaurant in Rochester - hands down. Don't forget to try the Pandan Custard. —OneLove
